Family impact is often one of the more apparent impacts of addictive behaviors. Often, the addictive behavior can be referred to as the “other person” in a marriage. Think of work, when a person chooses to stay late at the office, hole up on weekends to get caught up, take another meeting, etc., they are choosing work over home. Now we can’t all just stay home and not work, but intentionally choosing work or any other behavior that reduces connection and relationship in a family can be considered an addictive behavior. Think of the areas in your own life where you may choose more often than is helpful for family connection.
