Socializing and social connection are a necessary part of each of our lives. When we engage in behaviors that negatively impact our ability or willingness to connect with others in our lives, we are likely engaging in a type of addictive behavior.
This happens when we choose, on a consistent basis, to engage in behaviors that decrease our desire to connect. One of the most common areas I see this in is with screens. Whether it be gaming, scrolling social media apps or tuning into a favorite show, when we choose this behavior enough that it decreases our connection with others, we may be engaging in an addictive-type behavior.
